LINCNET stands for "LiFi-supported 5G for industrial and medical technology networks." In this project, 15 partners are exploring and developing networking solutions that intelligently combine the currently most advanced transmission technologies: LiFi, Powerline Communication, and 5G.
LINCNET contributes to the digitalization in the healthcare sector and the industrial environment. It helps enhance Germany's economic advantage and strengthen its technological sovereignty. The consortium leader of the project, which has a total volume of over five million euros, is the Aachener devolo AG.
At the heart of LINCNET is data communication through the spectrum of light – an innovative and highly intriguing technology that the project partners are advancing in professional environments. LINCNET aims to further develop optical wireless communication LiFi (Light Fidelity) so that it can be used in various applications as an alternative to 5G radio communication.
As a link between LiFi and 5G, Powerline Communication serves as a technology that utilizes existing wiring for data transmission.
