Single-User MIMO – Brief Definition
Older WiFi access points (e.g., routers) only use single-user MIMO technology. In this setup, WiFi devices are supplied with data streams one after the other, thus limiting the WiFi network.
What is Single-User MIMO?
A large portion of all currently available WiFi access points (e.g., routers) only feature Single-User MIMO technology, which provides data to all WiFi-enabled devices sequentially. When multiple WiFi clients such as smartphones, tablets, and others are in use, the data transfer speed on all devices is noticeably reduced.
The use of Multi-User MIMO technology provides a solution, as utilized in current devolo Magic devices.
