With a specially optimized Target Wake Time (TWT), the new Magic Adapter allows WiFi 6 devices to "sleep" longer when they do not rely on a constant wireless connection. Additionally, devolo's PowerSafe Technology saves energy: when the Powerline connection is not needed, Magic Adapters automatically switch to a power-saving mode. A mesh system refers to a wireless network composed of multiple hotspots that automatically communicate with each other, creating a tightly woven connected Wi-Fi network with smart extras. The new Magic 2 WiFi 6 next supports the following mesh features for seamless Wi-Fi:

• Airtime Fairness automatically manages the Wi-Fi by providing faster devices with more connection time compared to older WLAN standards – this enhances the performance of the entire wireless network.
• Access Point Steering enables a seamless connection across multiple Wi-Fi access points. The advantage becomes apparent when users move through their apartment or house with a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. The mesh network automatically ensures that the respective device is always connected to the strongest hotspot.
• Band steering efficiently distributes end devices across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands without any user intervention. This ensures that connections always utilize the most suitable Wi-Fi band for a stable connection.
• Beamforming enables particularly precise targeting of end devices, allowing for an improved connection between the access point and, for example, the tablet.
• Client Steering further enhances Wi-Fi roaming by allowing compatible devices to autonomously determine which access point provides the fastest connection.
• Config Sync allows for the synchronization of Wi-Fi configuration data across all devolo Magic WiFi Access Points. Additionally, the router's access credentials can be adopted, so that only one Wi-Fi name and one Wi-Fi password need to be stored on all devices.
• Bidirectional Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO): Through the multi-antenna technology of the transmitting and receiving units, it is possible to simultaneously send different data streams to and receive them from various clients. A significant advantage for households where multiple real-time internet services are regularly used at the same time.
• OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access): OFDMA is the most significant feature of WiFi 6 and a complementary transmission method to MU-MIMO. This modulation technology utilizes the available frequencies more efficiently than older Wi-Fi generations. The radio channels are divided into smaller frequency ranges, allowing multiple applications or clients to communicate simultaneously on a single channel, resulting in faster transmission of small data packets.

Strong connection: Powerline and WiFi 6

The major advantage of devolo's solution compared to other WiFi 6 products is that the adapters connect to each other using powerline technology. The adapters communicate through the electrical wiring. This allows devices to be connected wirelessly at their location, while the underlying home network benefits from the wired connection. The devolo Magic 2 WiFi 6 next is now available in various packages. The single adapter for upgrading an existing powerline network costs €209.90. For larger living spaces, the Multiroom Kit is recommended, which includes three adapters for €469.90. For newcomers, the Starter Kit with two adapters is available for €269.90.
